The Search for Meaning Part 6: Advice for Young & Old

Rev. Mar Doerksen & Mike Thom    Ecclesiastes 11:7- Ecclesiastes 12:8 (Psalm 139:1-18; 1 Timothy 6:17-19)

The final words of “the Teacher” in Ecclesiastes.  He brings his rant to an end . . . to a depressing end.  But we also see the second voice of Ecclesiastes come out at the end.  Is everything truly meaningless like our teacher suggests?  Well, perhaps, but perspective is everything.

The Search for Meaning Part 5: Nothing is Certain

Mike Thom    Ecclesiastes 7:1-14 (James 1:19-27; Proverbs 8:1-11)

Nothing in this life is certain!  Not even the audio always working properly.  You’ll have to turn it up this week :)

Hospitality

Rev. Mark Doerksen     Matthew 25:31-46 (Genesis 18:1-151 Kings 17:8-16)

Hospitality: it’s not a word you hear much anymore, unless you’re talking about the hotel business.  But, the Gospels – in fact much of the Scriptures – have a lot to say about hospitality.  Not all of it is easy to hear.  Much of it is actually quite difficult and challenging for many of us today.  Difficult and challenging, but necessary.

The Search for Meaning Part 4: Justice

Dr. Gus Konkel    Ecclesiastes 3:16-4:6 (Proverbs 15:9-17; Matthew 5:3-12)

In The Beginning: Creation & Questions [Lecture]

Dr. August Konkel, President of Providence University College and noted Old Testament scholar, takes a look at the accounts of creation found in the Old Testament.  The biblical accounts of creation, and scientific theories of the last two centuries, provide a Christian with many questions when it comes to seeking clarity to our origins.  In these four sessions Konkel seeks to bring clarity from a biblical perspective.

Dr. Konkel has graciously agreed to share the audio of these sessions with us online.  You can find some of his scholarly works here.
