Sermons
Loving God
Rev. Mark Doerksen 1 John 5:1-6 (Deuteronomy 30:11-20; Matthew 11:25-30)
God in Us
Mike Thom 1 John 4:7-21 (Romans 8:14-17; Matthew 5:43-48)
First John is full of talk on love. Writing to his own church, this epistle is a great guide not only on love, but on love in community for churches. John says that love for one another is so important in community that if we claim to follow Jesus but do not love, then we do not truly follow Jesus!
How do we respond? This week we took some time to share responses at the end of the sermon. Have a listen and give your own responses below if you like!
Real Love
Rev. Mark Doerksen 1 John 3:16-24 (Deuteronomy 15:7-11; Romans 5:1-11)
What does real love really look like? What does it really sound like? Act like? It seems John thinks this whole following Jesus thing involves more than just words … perhaps it involves the way we actually live?
Living As Children of God
Rev. Mark Doerksen 1 John 2:28-3:10 (Isaiah 53; Ephesians 1:3-8)
The Empty Tomb
Rev. Mark Doerksen John 20:1-18 (Hebrews 2:5-9; Romans 8:18-30)
The Palm Sunday Pageant
Rev. Mark Doerksen Mark 11:1-11 (Philippians 2:5-11; Psalm 118:19-29)
Pastor Mark takes a different angle to this sermon – more of a story telling. He assures us that all characters are fictional.
The Time Has Come
Mike Thom John 12:20-33 (Psalm 6:1-10; 2 Peter 1:16-21)
The whole world is looking for a saviour … but, when we find him, will we follow?
Under the Cover of Darkness
Rev. Mark Doerksen John 3:1-21 (Num 21:4-9; Eccl 11:1-6)
A story of “redemptive love” rather than judgment and scolding. Check it out!
Jesus Cleans the Temple
Rev. Mark Doerksen John 2:13-22 (Deut 16:1-8; 1 Cor 3:10-23)
Always on his best behaviour, Jesus enters the Temple at Passover and causes mayhem. What exactly was he getting at?
