Lessons Learned Unplugged: Surviving 9 Days of Silent Prayer & Meditation

As our sermon series based on personal experience and testimony winds down we hear from Katie. She recently spent 9 days at a silent retreat. What she experienced was far from what she was expecting; it was difficult, it was emotional, it left her to face moments of life she thought she left far behind, and most importantly, it left her fully healed through the work of Christ.

Psalm 23

1 The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
2 He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
3     He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.
4 Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.
5 You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord
forever.

    Thank you for sharing your story Katie and your prayer and meditation experience. Very powerful indeed. You are courageous and may God richly (continue to) bless you….I appreciate what you have left us with about stones unturned. I loved everything about this, forgiveness freely given, no excuses, offering words of kindness….confession and surrendering to God our healer….I also like the parts of noticing the judgment and striving…and how to deal with that, and so much more.
    Thank you again Katie.
