As we’ve been thinking, praying and raising money for food security issues globally, it’s been prompting talks of where our food comes from, how sustainable it is and how wise and healthy our practices are in genetic engineering, large-scale farming and the future of Canadian Farms.
The Friesen family have generously invited us out to their working dairy farm in Kleefeld, Manitoba, for a tour of their facility and talking about how faith and farming intersect as they are working through and wrestling with these issues in real-time.
Meet: 9:45am at the church Saturday, September 30 – weather permitting (45 Willowlake Crescent)
Carpool to the Friesen farm in Kleefeld, MB (if you’d rather meet us there, just let Pastor Kirsten know)
Tour: 11:00am-1:00pm (we’ll be there for milking time, too!) This is a personal tour by the Friesen family for our group only, so there’ll be lots of time to ask questions and explore what interests us.
Lunch: 1:00-2:00pm – bring your own, or pick something up at a local burger joint. We’ll plan to eat outdoors together and talk through what we’ve seen and heard.
Back at the church: Between 2:30-4:00pm
This tour is open to people of all ages and all levels of experience, but RSVP is needed to help the Friesens prepare for our group.
RSVP here or by calling Pastor Kirsten (204) 256-2923
